Welcome to Pinions Music

By Jon Skaggs, . 1 min read.

Pinions Music has been making music for picture for a while. Until now, the only place to find it was DropCue. This site gives it a front door.

Here’s the short version of who we are and how to work with us.

The labels

Instead of one big catalog, Pinions Music is split into labels. Right now there are three, and each has a clear sound, so a music supervisor or editor can go straight to the right shelf.

  • EmberDawn Audio is the electronic label, all instrumental. It’s home to Art of Exist (cinematic electronica), Rogue Pilot (techno, house and EDM) and Etesian Drift (ambient cinematic).
  • Savage Gears is the trailer and cinematic label: builds, hits and orchestral weight, mostly instrumental.
  • Benton Road Music is the singer-songwriter label, mostly songs with vocals. An acoustic-organic instrumental project is in the works there too.

The projects page has every project with its sound in a line.

Where to listen

The catalog lives on DropCue. That’s where you can hear every release, browse playlists by sound (trailer, orchestral, electronic, ambient, piano and more) and watch the reels.

We keep the music there rather than here on purpose. DropCue is built for exactly this job, and it means the catalog you hear is always the current one.

How licensing works

Find the track on DropCue, then send the details through DropCue: the project, where it will run, the term and territory, and how the scene uses the music. We’ll reply with terms. The licensing page walks through it, including the publishing names to use on cue sheets.

If what you need isn’t in the catalog, Pinions Music also writes custom music for picture and produces recordings for artists. That starts with a message on DropCue too.

What you’ll find here

This blog will carry news, new releases and notes from the studio. New posts also show up on PinionsCo, the company behind Pinions Music.
